This year Christ Hospital marks its Sesquicentennial Anniversary. We will be honoring and celebrating our 150 years of Compassion and Caring within our communities. We are planning to host a Gala fundraising event. At this event we would have sponsorship opportunities and raise money for Christ Hospital’s Comprehensive Neuroscience Institute, Center for Personalized Health, Cancer Programs, and the Neighborhood Health Center.

Christ Hospital is a cornerstone of the public health system in Hudson County, serving thousands of patients annually for emergency and in-patient services. During the COVID pandemic, it treated and saved thousands of lives. Like many hospitals throughout the country, Christ Hospital has faced unparalleled fiscal and operational challenges directly tied to the COVID-19 pandemic. The hospitals facing the greatest challenges have been those serving communities with pre-
existing health inequalities along racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic lines, including Christ Hospital here in Jersey City. Approximately 60% of the patients cared for at Christ Hospital are the uninsured, underinsured, and underserved. The hospital has taken on the responsibility of providing quality and equitable free care to thousands of patients. Annually, the hospital cares for over 25,000 charity care patients in its emergency room and Neighborhood Health Center. Healthcare costs are rising every day, and many more families struggle to pay for even the most basic medical services – this is where we come in. Our non-profit hospital system is committed to providing our patients with access to the highest quality care regardless of their financial situation. We have partnered with Columbia/NY Presbyterian, St. Peter’s University Hospital, and other leading centers to bring world class care to Hudson County.

The renowned Lown Institute, a think tank founded by Nobel Prize winner Dr. Bernard Lown, MD, ranks hospitals according to their social responsibility and inclusivity. In 2021, Christ Hospital was ranked #1 in the nation as the most socially responsible hospital. In 2022, Christ Hospital was ranked #4 in the State of New Jersey, and top 25 nationally for Community Benefit. The data clearly demonstrates the vital need to sustain and grow this hospital.

As a non-profit organization, we rely on the generosity of our community to help us continue with our mission: Treating with compassion and leading with innovation, we improve the health of the communities we serve. Your gift, no matter how large or small, will be extremely impactful in addressing healthcare disparities, building healthier communities and will make a real difference in the lives of our patients and their families.
